Eating burgers. On Thursdays. Could there be a better set up? (Apart from, obviously, having them every day instead…)
So a few posts ago, when I filled you all in on the #OxMeet, I mentioned meeting up with Hannah from the rather fabulous Pinafores and Pies before heading on to Wagamama’s to meet everyone. Having chatted non-stop, we figured we must meet up again and continue where we left off, and what better way to do that, than over burgers?
Byron Burgers, to be precise.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Byron. The toppings, the milkshakes, the fries, the black and white tiles, the booths to sit in – have I sold it to you yet?
How about now?
I’m getting ahead of myself…
Having mentioned to Hannah about Byron (and after her admitting she’d never been before), I knew we had to head there, so arranged a meetup one night after work. I’ve kind of been in love with the Byron in Oxford for some time – it’s all a little rustic with the right amount of monochrome and mirrors, and the staff have always been so lovely, that it’d be rude not to return regularly. There’s also something so liberating about going out for food with a fellow blogger – mainly the fact you don’t feel so aware of your need to take a photo of your menu before you order.
Or your food before you eat it…
Or your drink before you drink it…
Having ordered a Byron Burger (look, if a place has a burger on the menu named after itself, you just KNOW it’s going to the be golden ticket of burgers…), we were oh so nicely surprised when it arrived so quickly.
And once again, it didn’t disappoint.
I’m sure I don’t need to describe it to you – the burger, bacon, cheese, gherkins, fries and sauce were all done to perfection, and if you’re like me and need sauce on everything you eat, you’ll be spoilt for choice with the selection on offer. It really was a great way to spend an evening, chatting all things blog-gy over some of the most gorgeous and filling burgers on offer.
So, most importantly, would I recommend making a trip to Byron Burger? I most definitely would (if only to use the taps in the lady’s. Go to the one in Oxford and that’ll all make sense…) If you’re looking for a quirky, tasty and oh-so-addictive burger joint (who isn’t?!), this one’s for you.
As for seeing Hannah again, we’ve decided on making Burger Thursday’s a regular thing, and will be taking to the restaurants of Oxford once a month uncovering the best that the city has to offer.
So, if you have any recommendations for us, please let me know in the comments!
